Props and costumes

This is a list of props and costumes which i will use and any issues i will face using them.
I have had to think carefully about which props to include in which scenes and if they fit the character who will be using them. Another issue with props are guns; we are not allowed to use fake/toy guns outside as this incurs a serious health and safety issue, if somebody sees the weapon people may panic and think it is real. To combat this I will only use fake/toy guns in an indoor private setting where it will not be visible to the public. I think that the use of guns are vital to my story to show that the criminals are not just thugs but serious. Speaking of the criminals portrayed in my trailer they will wear dark clothes possibly hoodies although this might go against the idea of them being serious organised criminals and not just street thugs. The picture from pulp fiction shows the sort of criminals I am thinking about, proffessional and calm so they are distinguished from petty criminals. The audience will never see the criminal’s faces properly as this will make them mysterious characters and add another level of criminal conventions.

The main character is at his first day at a new job so to start off he will be wearing smart, office wear (white shirt, tie, smart trousers and shoes). This shows him to be unremarkable and average, his flatmate will also be dressed in similar clothing as they both work at the same office. As props go I don’t think the main character will need any at the first few scenes of the trailer, only a pen in his breast pocket to enforce the idea that he works at an office. This again goes along the lines that he is an ordinary worker with nothing to suggest there is anything out of the ordinary about him.

The police will need a few more props to make them stand out as police officers, they won’t be wearing police uniforms as a classic convention of police crime dramas is that the police characters wear suits or casual clothing depending on their personality, this sets them apart from regular police and shows that they’re rank allows them to set them selves apart from regular police. However they will need to have badges, which I don’t think will be hard to replicate although impersonating a police officer is a crime so I will have to be careful to only show them in private settings. Fake/toy guns again may be useful to show that these are not regular police and are involved in something dangerous.

Shot list

Shot list
First of all I plan to use lots of close ups and first person shots to make the audience feel close to the action and confined, as the film is about escaping the police I want the audience to feel as if they can’t get away and they are always being chased. Also i have choisen to film many shots with low key lighting or at night, this is all to create a dark and mysterious feel about the trailer as well as to show the film understands it's genre and will show this by the locations used.

I have taken many ideas from the teaser trailers I have investigated. An example of this would be from eagle eye, I really liked the idea of a computer taking control of the character's life and I thought the implications of this are a modern topic as computer intelligence gets better. I also liked the teaser for hot fuzz with a short section of calm dialogue and then the classic fast paced action/explosion shots. This could be hard to put this into my trailer as obviously I don't have access to pyrotechnics so I might experiment with scale models and camera shots to make these look authentic. A teaser which I won't be taking anything from is Toy Story 3, although this trailer is very effective in the way it doesn't contain any footage fromthe actual film, I don't think it would work for mine as it works best for films with already famous prequels.
